Blogging can help increase your visibility on the internet when people are searching for your products and services.

People turn to the internet when they want to know something or buy something so will they find you?

Having a blog which shares information can lead to products sales and new team members for you, but sadly not overnight

Blogs are like plants in that they need constant care and attention

The internet is a big noisy place, so if you are wanting to use a blog to increase your visibility you need to invest regular time and effort in it.

Blogging for free

Blogging Good FunThere are various free websites – the most popular is WordPress.com, but there is also the likes of Wix and Blogger. There are so many tutorial videos online showing how to setup such a website so this not being covered in this post today.

Setting up a website gives you a great platform to promote yourself as well as your products and services

You hear it said you should brand yourself and not the company you are working with.

People connect with people so this is a great way to tell people more about you so they can decide if you look and sound like the sort of person they would like to work with or buy from.

On a website you have static pages where the information rarely changes; such as about you, how to contact you, and your business overview.

Then there are blog posts.

Blog Posts

Blog posts are there to share relevant information at any moment in time : announcing a new catalogue, a new product range, or even a product review.

They can also be used to share your knowledge about attributes that help build a home business: attitude, time management, goal setting again, etc.

Sadly you do not get as much control over a free website as you do when you pay to house your own website, in technical terms that is called self-hosting.

This especially goes for the search engine optimisation side of things, otherwise shortened to SEO. SEO elements are what increase your REACH and help your site rank higher on Google search results

Plus with free websites they tend to display paid-for advertisements throughout your page.

But a free site will get you started.

Google loves new content on a website so you want to be blogging regularly to keep your site in their eyeline.

Use the internet for inspiration and to get ideas but make sure what you write is in your own words, reflecting your own personality.

Top Tips For Your Blog Posts

When it comes to blogging do not be tempted to simply copy and paste what someone else has written. Google has its ways of telling it is not ‘new’.

Once you have your subject, how do you put your post together …

Well some of the basics of blogging stem around the formatting of your content.

Blogging Formatting

Make sure every post has a Heading1 line and .a Heading2 line.

These are pre-defined font settings within your website editor.

Both lines should contain your keyword; the word or words you want to be found for when people are searching the internet.

Keep your sentences short as search engines like easy to read content.

Every blog post should also be a minimum of 300+ words long and should contain an image or two.

Always tell the truth, never lie, mislead or cajole people.

Trust is slowly earned but very easily lost!

The most important thing is to include what is called a call-to-action at the end of every post. This should take the reader to your online shop or your online registration page

Writing a blog post is about giving useful information that leads the reader to want to take action so don’t miss out that last and most important step.

Blog Posts and Social Media

Make your content is easy to share. There are add-ons, otherwise known as plugins, that you can use to add share buttons to your posts.

A plugin is simply a small pre-written software program that adds to the functionality of your website.

But just be aware some free platforms do not allow plugins to be added.

Your website should reflect the branding you use on all your other content sharing platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest etc.

Social Media Links on your BlogBy giving everything the same look and feel strikes recognition with the viewer as when they see you again and again on different platforms they will recognise it is you and follow you.

Ensure your website also contains links to your social media, this will help build up your page likes and number of followers.

Again this can be done using in-built widgets, a pre-defined function within your website, or simple linked icon images or text hyperlinks.

Be free at giving away your knowledge to showcase yourself so people can see how you would be able to help and support them either with a purchase or in building a home business.

Remember, if you don’t share the information people are looking for someone else will.  After all when have you ever not been able to find the answer to your question on the internet?

Blogging takes times to drive results

Blogging will not drive instant results but given time it will gain traction and start producing results.

I can endorse that 100% from my own personal experience that consistency and persistence does drive longer term results.

This website now has more organic traffic than it does direct traffic.

Organic traffic is people visiting my site because they have found it on search results.

Direct traffic are those who visit my site as a result of knowing my website name from an advert or clicking a link posted on another platform.

Organic traffic is what you want as it has no cost to you, it simply costs you time and effort in working your blog.

Free Leads, Extra Sales and New Team Members … what more could you ask for.
